In July 1990, I had the privilege to hear Pastor Wiley Cameron preach. This is the man of God who took over as Pastor of Peoples Baptist Church, Corpus Christi, Texas, and the Rebekah Home for girls and the Lighthouse Home for boys, etc. after Pastor-Evangelist Lester Roloff died in a plane crash. The above was the title of the message Dr. Cameron preached that day. It was topical and thematic using Noah, Joseph, Job and Paul.

Before he preached, he had one of the Rebekah Home girl’s group give several Scriptures, songs and testimonies. Each girl mentioned that the Lord Jesus had saved her soul, thereby transforming her life completely from the sinful lifestyle of immorality, violence, addictions and other criminal activity to a beautiful life of Godliness, peace and joy.

Interestingly, each said that they had been addicted to a drug, but didn’t name it till the last one testified. She said. “The drug that we were all hooked on, the one all that drew us into all of these other vile sins was rock and roll music. Now we, sing the songs of Glory for our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” Then they quoted Scripture in unison and sang again, then Brother Cameron preached. What a blessing it all was !

At one time I was a fairly conscientious note taker of sermons that I heard. Through the years I’ve heard several messages on Elijah, a series on Elijah 1 Kings 17 -19, and at least a few Elijah sermons at Bible Colleges, even recently. I, personally have preached from these towering chapters of God’s inspired Word at couple/three times. Following you will find one of the best outlines I have come across to date from 1 Kings 19. The basic outline is from Evangelist Sams which I have tweaked a bit and used part of Pastor Gordon’s 1979 notes and Wiley Cameron’s title woven together with my own prayer and study to “Keep Us From Cracking In The Crisis”. I trust these truths in the next article will be the blessing and help intended. – Pastor Spence
