The Will of God

The will of God is simply the Lord Jesus Christ’s highest desired direction and plan for one’s life. The Saved Person is holiest and happiest when he/she has given their life to the LORD’s will with total abandonment and is following such unreservedly.
The following honest desire in the expressed prayer helps understand such a quality of mind and heart: “Dear Lord Jesus, Thy will, nothing more, nothing less, nothing else. Amen.”
In the following excerpt from Dr. Chambers in his inspirational devotional book “My Utmost For His Highest” gives insight into this total yielding to Christ Jesus and His will for one’s life:
“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” Isaiah 6:8
God did not address the call to Isaiah; Isaiah overheard the Lord saying, “Who will go for us?” The call of God is not for the special few, it is for everyone. Whether or not I hear God’s call depends on the state of my ears; and what I hear depends upon my disposition. Matthew 22:14 “For many are called, but few are chosen”, that is, few prove themselves the chosen ones!
The chosen ones are those that have come into a relationship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ, whereby their disposition has been altered and their ears unstopped. and they hear the still small voice questioning all the time, “Who will go for us?” It is not a question of God singling out a man and saying, “Now you go.” God did not lay a strong compulsion on Isaiah; Isaiah was in the presence of God and he overheard the call, and realized there was nothing else for him but to say, in conscious freedom, “Here am I, send me.”
Get out of your mind the idea of expecting God to come with compulsions and pleadings. When our Lord Jesus called His disciples there was no irresistible compulsion from outside. The quiet compassionate insistence of His “Follow Me” was spoken to men with every power wide awake. If we let the Spirit of God bring us face to face with the Lord, we too shall hear something akin to what Isaiah heard, the still small voice of God; and in perfect freedom we will say, “Here am I; send me.”
This type of total passionate honest surrender preaching is not heard enough from Bible believing Bible preaching pulpits nowadays. We don’t expect the religious groups/churches of compromise and partial bibles to preach all the counsel of God anyway. They are breeding for the most part a form of Christianity without the true power of godliness – 2 Timothy 3:5. Most are pursuing materialism and the spiritual side is satisfied with soul sensuality through emotional religion bolstered by aberrant music. The absence of the preaching of the Word of God has and is taking its toll.
When Heaven Itself preaches, it is the triune Jehovah, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” The LORD is looking for surrendered individuals, who are right with the Bible and therefore right with Him. God doesn’t work through religious coalitions but through saved, surrendered men! Remember, “You cannot divorce the Will of God from the Word of God.” If this is too heavy for a Church blog – sorry – it’s been heavy on my heart. – Pastor Spence
